HomeMy Public PortalAbout1994-002Member James Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. 94-02 RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SUBMISSION OF GRANT APPLICATIONS TO THE STATE OF MINNESOTA BOARD OF GOVERNMENT INNOVATION AND COOPERATION WHEREAS, the City of Medina is a party to an Agreement with the Northwest Hennepin League of Municipalities (the League) which include the cities of Corcoran, Dayton, Greenfield, Hanover, Hassan, Independence, Loretto, Maple Grove, Maple Plain, Medina, Minnestrista and Rogers, to explore opportunities for improving cooperation in the development of recreational and park trail plans, and to identify and explore opportunities for improving cooperation between the League's cities relative to the provision of public services; and WHEREAS, the City of Medina and the League have identified a plan of action to coordinate all of its member cities, recreation, and park trails along with initiating a cooperative endeavor to combine services for the purpose of reducing municipal costs; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota State Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation is now accepting applications for service sharing grants; and WHEREAS, the aforementioned needs of the City of Medina are deemed to be projects which are eligible for funding by the Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation Grant Programs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Medina supports the submission of two separate grant applications by the Northwest Hennepin League of Municipalities to the Minnesota State Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation to assist in the funding of the aforementioned service sharing projects. Mayor ATTEST: The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Ann Thies and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Johnson, Thies and Mayor Anne Theis. and the following voted against: Philip Zietlow and the following were absent: John Ferris. Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted this 4th day of January , 1994 .
