HomeMy Public PortalAbout1994-003Member Thies introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. 94-3 RESOLUTION REVOKING WORKERS' COMPENSATION COVERAGE FOR ELECTED AND APPOINTED CITY OFFICIALS WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, section 176.011, subd. 9 allows a Minnesota city to include its elected and appointed officials as employees for purposes of coverage under workers' compensation; and WHEREAS, the city of Medina previously adopted resolution 84-8 on April 3, 1984 to that effect; and WHEREAS, the city council now wishes to change its policy regarding workers' compensation for elected and appointed officials. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina, Minnesota as follows: 1. It is henceforth the policy of the city of Medina not to consider elected and appointed officials as employees and not to provide workers' compensation for same. 2. Resolution No. 84-8 is hereby revoked. 3. The city clerk -treasurer is hereby directed and authorized to take whatever actions are necessary to effect this policy. Dated: January 4, 1994.
