RESOLUTION N0. 76-79
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, TO CONTINUE PARTICIPATION
IN A~ERTAIN PROJECT DESIGNATED THE CENTRAL
COUNTY BURGLARY INVESTIGATION TEAM.
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood, California, desires to
continue participation in a certain project designated the
CENTRAL COUNTY BURGLARY INVESTIGATION TEAM, funded in part from
funds made available through the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe
Streets Act of 1973 ~PL 93-$3), hereinafter referred to as the
Safe Streets Act, administered by the California Office of _
Criminal Justice Planning; and
WHER~~S, the California Office of Criminal Justice
Planning has been organized to administer the funds appropriated
by Congress and allocated for use in California under the
provisions of the law; and
WHEREAS, the Los Angeles Regional Criminal Justice
Planning Board has been organized and has published a Regional
Criminal Justice Master Plan for Region R; and
WHEREAS, the CENTRAL COUNTY BURGLARY INVESTIGATION
TEAM is one of the projects included in the 1g76-77 Regional
Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bell Gardens, on behalf of the
cities of Bell Gardens, Bell, Cudahy, Commerce, Huntington Park,
Lynwood, Maywood, South Gate, and an unincorporated area served
by the East Los Angeles Sheriff's station, et al., submitted an
application for a third-year grant in the amount of $274,910 to.
fund a multi-jurisdictional burglary team entitled the CENTRAL
COUNTY BURGLARY INVESTIGATION TEAM; and
WHEREAS, the sum of $1,697.0o has been assessed of
the City of Lynwood for the hard-cash matching funds requirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the City Council agrees to participate in the
second year of the CENTRAL COUNTY BURGLARY INVESTIGATION TEAM
(OCJP Project No. A-2154-3-77), to accept its share of the grant
and to provide the City's share of hard-cash matching funds,
which has been determined to be a sum equal to $1,697.00.
2. THAT the City Manager (Administrator) is herewith
designated as the City's representative in the conduct of the
CENTRAL COUNTY BURGLARY INVESTIGATION TEAM and is authorized to
furnish information, execute documents, make expenditures, and
perform associated administrative functions within the scope of
authority granted by this resolution. The City Manager
(Administrator) may designate other employees as necessary to
assist him in these duties.
3. THAT the grant funds received hereunder shall not
be used to supplant on-going law enforcement expenditures.
4. THAT in the conduct of this project, the City will
comply with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
