ORDINANCE NO. 1387
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 12 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE WITH
RESPECT TO FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION AND DEFINITIONS
The City Council of the City of Lynwood DOES .HEREBY ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 12-1.2(f) is hereby amended to read as
follows:
(f) Automatic Sprinkler Systems. Any new building
constructed as a nonresidential occupancy exceeding ten
thousand square feet of floor area, and any existing
nonresidential building that presently does not exceed

after completion of major alteration or addition will
exceed ten thousand (10,000) square feet ,of floor area,
shall be provided with an approved automatic fire
sprinkler system. Buildings classified as Group "H"
Occupancies shall conform to requirements. in the 1991
Uniform.Building Code, Chapter 38. Any automatic
sprinkler system installed pursuant hereto shall be
equipped with an approved device that automatically
transmits a water flow alarm to the Fire Department
upon activation of the system. Such an alarm's
transmission will be in a manner and form approved by
the Chief. This Section shall not apply to any free-
standing parking structure, which shall mean a garage
with one or more levels solely devoted to parking that
is structurally independent and not part of a building
and which may include pedestrian bridge connections.
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City
held on the 16thday of November 1993, and finally adopted at
a regular meeting of said Council held on the 7th day of
December 19 9 3 .
