RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE STEERING COMMITTEE
FOR THE COMPTON JUDICIAL DISTRICT NATIONAL
PRIORITY PROJECT TO PERFORM FUNCTIONS RELATING
TO CRIMINAL JUSTICE
WHEREAS, there is a need for improved efforts in
the cities of Compton, Lynwood, Carson and Paramount, and
that portion of the County of Los Angeles located within
the Compton Judicial District whiah is not incorporated
in any of the cities named above to perform the following
functions:
l. Improve coordination of all law enforcement
activities such as those of the police, courts, and the
correctional system,
2. Prevent the fragmentation of the criminal
justice system, including the activities of the police,
courts arid correctional agencies,
3• Coordination of the planning operations of
the police, courts and correctional agencies, and,
WHEREAS, the Steering Committee for the Compton
Judicial District National Priority Project (hereafter
designated as the Steering Committee) has been organized to
conduct the above functions in the geographical areas designated
above as a Criminal Justice Coordinating Councii as provided in
the Crime Control Act of 1973, P• L. 93-83, 42 U.S.C. 3701, and
WHEREAS, the Steering Committee will not perform
any functions now being performed by the Los Angeles Regional
Criminal Justice Planning Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Lynwood hereby recognizes the Steeri.ng Committee
