RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO APPROVE AN AMENDMENT
TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOARD OF ADMINISTRATION
OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTFM AATD
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
WHEREAS, the PUblic Employees' Retirement Law permits
the participation of public agencies and their employees in the
Public Employees' Retirement System by the execution of a
cor.tract, and sets forth the procedure by which said public
agencies may elect to subject themselves and their employees to
amendnents to said law; and
WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedure to amend
this contract is the adoption by the legislative body of the
public agency of a resolution giving notice of its intention to
approve an amendment to said contract, which resolution shall
contain a summary of the change proposed in said contract; and
WHERFAS, the following is a statement of the proposed
change:
PROVIDE FINAL COMPENSATION ON THE BASIS OF 1
YEAR (INSTEAD OF 3) FOR LOCAL POLICEMEN.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
of the City of Lynwood, gives, and it does hereby give notice of
intention to approve an amendment to the contract between the
City Council and the Board of Administration of the PUblic Employees'
Retirement System, a copy of said amendment being attached hereto,
marked "Exhibit A" and by this reference made a part hereof.

~ The Board of Administration, Public Employees' Retirement System, hereinafter
referred to as Board and the CITY COUNCIL of the CITY OF I,YM~IOOD, hereinafter re-
ferred to as Public Agency, having entered into a contract under date of May 7, 1946,
effective July l, 1946, as amended effective Novenber 1, 1951, February 1, 1954,
August 1, 1g59, December 1, 1g64, November 13, 1966 and January 1, 197$, and a~
provided by Chapters 170 and 316, Statutes of 19']1, which provide £or participation
of Public A~ency, hereby agree as follows:
A. The following subparagraph shall be added to Paragraph 5 of said
contract:
5(e). Section 20024.2 (defining "final compensation" for local policemen
on the basis o£ averag~ compensation earnable during the year
immediately preceding retirement or any other one year period
elected by the member).
. B. Paragraph 6(b) shall be stricken from said contract and the following
paragraph substituted therefor:
b. With respect to local safety members, the public agency shall con-
tribute the following percentages of monthly salaries earned as
local sa£ety members of said Sqstera:
(1) percent until June 30, 197~ on account of the liabi2ity
for prior service benefits.
(2) percent on account of the liability for current service
benefits.
(3) percent on account of the liability for the 1959 sur-
vivors program.
(4) percent until December 31, 1984 on account of the
, benefits provided under Section 21222.1 of the Government Code.
C. This amendment shaZl be attached to said contract and shall be effective
