That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized to prepare bid specifications and contract documents and to advertise for receipt of bids based upon the same for the Carteret Road Program-Tennyson Estates. 2. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Borough's Purchasing Department and the Borough Attorney. Our office recently received results from pavement cores performed in this area to determine the existing pavement thicknesses. Fifteen cores were taken (see attached results) within this area, and the ranges of existing pavement thicknesses are as follows: · HMA Surface Course: · HMA Base Course: . Sub Base: 0.5"_4" OIl_6" Stone with tar (no dense graded aggregate) Based on the above, it is our recommendation that a simple mill and overlay of the existing roads will not be sufficient. Our office has prepared two preliminary cost estimates to repave the roads for your review: Option #1 is to fully reconstruct the roads with 2" hot mix asphalt (HMA) surface course, 4" HMA base course, and 6" dense graded aggregate base course (DGABC). This will allow for a uniform pavement section throughout the development and the re-grading of gutter lines as needed to improve drainage patterns. Assuming this pavement reconstruction methodology and associated work, the average linear foot price for reconstruction In this manner is $201,33 per linear foot. The total project is approximately 9,785 LF totaling $1,970,000.00, Option #2 includes a six foot width of full reconstruction along the gutter lines of each road with 4" HMA base course and 6" DGABC and then a 2" HMA surface course overlay over the whole road. The second option provides the opportunity to re-grade the gutter lines, as required, to improve drainage patterns and "cap" the existing pavement to ensure a smooth pavement surface. The average linear foot price for reconstruction in this manner is $135.92 per linear foot. The total project is approximately 9,785 LF totaling $1,330,000.00.
