HomeMy Public PortalAbout13-8717 OLCDC to Add Additional Property Location to the Kaaboom Project Sponsored by: City Manager RESOLUTION NO. 13-8717 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO 13-8613 AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUPPORT THE OPA-LOCKA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORP (OLCDC) REQUEST TO ADD ADDITIONAL PROPERTY LOCATION TO THE KaBOOM PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXPEND $2500.00, A BUDGETED ITEM, PAYABLE FROM ACCOUNT NO. 32- 541340; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, on June 12, 2013, Resolution 13-8613 was adopted in support of the Opa-locka Community Development Corporation ("OLCDC") project with KaBOOM, in pursuit of a free built playground on City-owned property; and WHEREAS, the OLCDC is requesting the utilization of additional city-owned property for the project; and WHEREAS, in addition to the current project location, Site 1, the OLCDC is requesting that an additional Site 2 be added for safety and access reasons; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to amend Resolution 13-8613, and authorize the City Manager to expend $2500.00 for soil testing, and utilize both Site 1 and Site 2 for the KaBoom playground project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble are hereby incorporated by reference. Resolution No. 13-8717 Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, Florida, hereby authorizes the City Manager to support the Opa-locka Community Development Corp (OLCDC) request to add an additional property location to the KaBoom project, Site 1 and Site 2 as per the attached Exhibit "A", and authorizes the City Manager to expend $2500.00, for soil testing, a budgeted item, payable from account no. 32-541340. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. this 13th day of November, 2013.
