HomeMy Public PortalAbout74-011 (02-14-74)_ , . ~ RESOLUTION NO. 74-11 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD URGING IMMEDIATE UNLIMITED ALLOCA'I`ION OF GASOLINE - SUPPLY TO MUNICIPALITIES FOR PUBLIC SAFETY PURPOSES WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood supplies public safety services to its 43, 000 citizens in the form of fire protection services and police services, and WHEREAS, over the past two years conditions throughout the City have necessitated and increased need for these services requiring increased Fire Department responses and both an increase in manpower and public safety vehicles in the Police Department, and WHEREAS, this increase in safety needs has naturally led to an increase in gasoline consumption, and WHEREAS, the present Federal gasoline allocation program based on 1972 consumption has resuited in a situation which leaves the City of Lynwood critically short of gasoline and unable to rely on these Federal allocations for supplying the mandatory needs for these public safety vehicles. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD that the Council go on record to demand immediate County, State and Federal action to supply the City of Lynwood and any other public safety jurisdiction with 100% of the needed fuel supplies for safety services in order to carry out the mandatory responsibilities with which they have been charged.
