RESOLUTION NO. 13-8726
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA, TO AUTHORIZE THE
CITY MANAGER TO BEGIN FORECLOSURE
PROCEEDINGS ON CITY LIENS OUTSTANDING ON
ABANDONED PROPERTIES IN ORDER TO DEVELOP
SAID HOMES AS PART OF A HOME OWNERSHIP
PROGRAM FOR CITY EMPLOYEES AND OTHER CITY
RESIDENTS; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF
RECITALS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, the City has a number of abandoned properties that are in various stages of
the foreclosure process; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to foster homeownership for City employees
and other City residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble are hereby incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City Manager to begin
foreclosure proceedings on City liens outstanding on abandoned properties, in order to acquire
said properties, and then develop them in partnership with a public or private developer, with the
goal of making the properties available for homeownership to City employees and other City
residents.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
