HomeMy Public PortalAbout13-8729 Increase Use of Non-City Staff on City Evaluation Committees Sponsored by: Commissioner Johnson RESOLUTION NO. 13-8729 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INCREASE USE OF NON-CITY STAFF ON CITY EVALUATION COMMITTEES; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City solicits competitive purchasing (Bids, RFP's, RLI's, etc.) on a regular basis; and WHEREAS, the majority of these proposals are reviewed and ranked by City staff and employees; and WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to increase the amount of non-city staff on a rotation basis; the Evaluation Committees are established to ensure greater transparency and efficiency in the City's bid process. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble are hereby incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, Florida, hereby directs the City Manager to increase the number of non-city staff on Evaluation Committees; all Evaluation Committees must be approved via resolution presented by the City Manager and approved by the City Commission. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
