A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD REt~UESTING RENEWAL OF A CONTRACT
WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY
PATROL FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE STATE ABANDONED
VEHICLE ABATEMENT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Department of California Highway Patrol has notified
all incorporated cities with Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Ordinances and Programs
of their renewal eligibility for reimbursement of abatement costs from the AVA
Trust Fund; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwooa desires to renew its participation
in the AVA Program and is forwarding all of the required information to qualify
it as eligible to negotiate an agreement with the CHP; and
WHEREAS, after the Department has received the qualifying informa-
tion from Lynwood, an agreement will be negotiated with the City to reimburse
it for abatement costs in so far as practical, in proportion to the number of
abandoned vehicles throughout the State; and
WHEREAS, the Building and Zoning Department of the City of
Lynwood upon entering an AVA reimbursement agreement will fox°ward
abatement invoices and quarterly reports monitoring AVA activities to the
California Highway Patrol>
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DOES RESOLVE to request the Department of California Highway Patrol to
initiate a contract with the City for participation in the Abandoned Vehicle
Abatement Program in fiscal year 1974-750
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 6th day of August
1974.
