A RESOLUTION OF' THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD REQUESTING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD TO BE HELD ON
NOVEMBER 5, 1974, WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 5, 1974,
PURSUANT TO SECTION 23302 OF THE ELECTIONS
CODE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood called
a special municipal election in the City of Lynwood to be held on
Plovember 5, 1974, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified
voters of the City of Lynwood a proposition concerning improved
retirement benefits for Lynwood Firemen and Policemen as hereinafter
set forth, and
It is desirable that said special municipal election be
consolidated with the statewide general election to be held on
the same date and that within the City of Lynwood i~he precincts,
polling places and election officers of the two elections be the
same, and that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles
canvass the returns of the special municipal election and that said
atatewide general election and special municipal election be held
in all r~espects as if there were only one el.ection,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
does hereby resolve, determine, and order as follows:
Section l. That pursuant to the requirements of Section
23302 of the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Los Angeles be and it hereby is requested to consent and agree
to the consoli_dation of a special municipal election with the state-
wide general election on Tuesda,y, the 5th day of November, 1974,

for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of
Lynwood a proposition to appeax° on the ballot as iollows:
: Shall the Ordinance amending
: Ordinance No. 426, effective
: January l, 1975, provide that
: the City's contract with the
: Board of Administration of the
: Public Employees'Retirement
: System be amended to include
: improved retirement benefits
: to the Lynwood Firemen and
: Policemen, herein referred to
: as local safety members on the
: basis of discretionary retire-
: ment at age 50, with the local
: safety member receiving a
: retirement of Two (2%) percerit
: of their final compensation
: for each year of service (not
: to exceed Seventy-five (75%)
: percent of final compensation)
: with compulsory retirement at
: age 60, to provide a widow's
: allowance of One-half (1/2) of
: the local safety member's retire-
: ment benefits on his death and
: the levy of only such taxes as
: will be necessary to maintain
: the City's share of said benefits
: be adopted?

Section 2. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized
to canvass the returns of said special municipal election which
it is hereby requested to consolidate with said statewid~ general
election and said election shall be held in all respects as if there
were orily one election, and only one form of ballot shall be used.
Section 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested
to issue instructions to the County Clerk to take any and all steps
necessary for the holding of said consolidated election.
Section 4. The City of Lynwood recognizes that additional
costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation
and agrees to reimburse the County for any such costs.
Section 5. That the City Clerk of the City of Lynwood
is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution

with the County Clerk of the County of Los Angeles.
PASSED and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City
of Lynwood at a regular meeting thereof held on the bth day of
August, 1974.
