RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
EXPRESSING ITS INTENTION TO PARTICIPATE IN A STUDY OF
JOINT CITY FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES
WHEREAS, the Cities of Downey, Lynwood, and South Gate have heretofore
undertaken and are presently conducting preliminary studies pertaining to the
most efficient and effective means of providing fire protection services for their
respective residents; and
WHEREAS, said Cities recognize that efficient and effective fire protection
services can best be provided on a regional basis; and
WHEREAS, said Cities wish to undertake a joint feasibility study of
providing regional fire protection services through the combining of their
collective resources.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
HEREBY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
l. The City Council hereby expresses its intention to join with the Cities
of Downey and South Gate in the preparation of a study to determine the feasibility
of providing combined fire protection services in said three cities.
2. The City Council further expresses its intention to pay that portion
of the total cost of said study as the population of Lynwood bears~ to the total
population of all three of the aforesaid cities.
3. The City Manager or his delegate and the Fire Chief or his delegate
are hereby authorized and directed to meet with their respective counterparts
from the Cities of Downey and South Gate to prepare bid specifications for sueh
study after which said specifications shall be submitted to the respective City
Councils for approval.
4. Upon approval of said specifications by each of the respective City
Councils, the City Manager is further authorized and directed to join with the City
Managers of the Cities of Downey and South Gate in inviting proposals for said
studies, evaluating the same and recommending to the respective City Councils
a consultant to undertake the study.
PA.SSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 20th Day of August, 1974.
