RESOLUTION N0. 74-112
A RESOLUTION OF THE CIiY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AMENDING THE PERSONNEL CLASSIFICATION PLAN BY
ABOLISHING THE CLASSIFICATIONS OF STREET SUPERINTENDENT
AND WATER SUPERINTENDENT AND ADDING THE CLASSIFICATION
OF PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY
RESOLV'3S AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Under Section 2, Subsection

Type of Work ~'erformed
Directs City construction and maintenance of utility systems, street
lighting, traffic signals, street maintenance and repair and related activities.
Typical Duties Performed
~
Plans, organizes and coordinates functions of the department including the
construction and repair of water and sewer mains, pumping equipment, storage
facilities and related equipment, installation and repair of street lighting systems
and traffic signals, City streets, alleys, parkways, sidewalks, directs tree trim-
ming and traffic sign and marking operations.
Maintains records of water consumption and projects water consumption
for studies of future water capital impvoements projects; maintains contact with
adjacent cities regarding water consumption rates; maintains liaison with state
and federal agencies in regard to operations, Requisitions materials and supplies
for street projects; meets with sales representatives to determine the best pro-
ducts for the job.
Reviews plans and specifications of work to be done.
Receives and processes complaints and participates in customer relations
work.
Coordinates work between City Departments and contractors.
Participates in work as required and supervises complex operations.
Prepares reports of materials and equipment used and of work accomplished;
administers budget for field operations.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Knowledge of the principles and practices of the construction, maintenance
and operation of utility and street systems.
Knowledge of the materials, methods, tools and techniques used in street,
lighting, traffic signal installation and repair.
Knowledge of work hazards and safety practices.
~ Ability to administer a variety of maintenance operations.
` Ability to deal effectively with the public.

Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
Skill in the use of peritnent equipment and tools.
Indicators of Preparation For Work
Five years of skilled experience in the construction and maintenance of
utility syatems, street lighting and construction and maintenance of streets includ-
ing one year of supervisory experience; or any combination of training and r '
experience which may provide the required knowledges, abilities and skills.
Special Requirement
State of California Department of Health Certificate; "Water Treatment
Operator, Grade III. "
State of California Driver's License.
