RESOLUTION N0. 74-114
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL• OF THE CITY
OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF
THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID
CITY OF LYNWOOD ON THE 5TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1974,
DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER
MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW~
WHEREAS, a special municipal election was held and
conducted in the City of Lynwood, County of Los Angeles, State of
California, on Tuesday, the 5th day of November, 1974, and
WHEREAS, the said special ele~tion was ordered con-
solidated with the Statewide general elect.ion held on said date,
and within said City the pr.ecincts, polling places and officers of
election fo~ the spec.ial municipal election were the same as those
provided for said Statewide general election, a~d the Board of
Supervisors o~ Los Angeles County was requested to order the
consolidation of the speeial municipal election with said Statewide
general election and to canvass the returns of said special muni-
cipal election and certify the results of the canvass of returns,
and
WHEREAS, the canvass of the returns of said election
has been completed and the Registrar-Recorder of the County of
Los Angeles has ~ertified the results to this City Council, said
results are received, attaehed and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A."
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
That at said special municipal election, the fol.lowing
measure was submitted to the ele~tors of said City, to wit:
Shall the Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 426,
effective January 1, 1975, provide that the City's
contract with the Board of Administration of the
Public Employees' Reti~ement System be amended to
include improved retirement benefits to the
Lynwood Firemen and Policemen, herein referred to as
local safety members on the basis of discretionary
retirement at age 50, with the local safety member
receiving a retirement of Two (2%) percent of their
final compensat~.~n for each year of service (not to
exeeed Seventy-five (75%) pereent of final compen-
sation) with compulsory retirement at age 60, to
provide a widow's allowance of One-half (1/2) of
the local safety member's retirement benefits on his
death and the levy of only stzch Laxes as will be
necessary to maintain the City's share of said
benefits be adopted~
Section 2o That the whole number of votes cast in said
City (except absent voter ballots) for the Lynwood City Special
Municipal Election was 8,023>
That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast was
210, making a total of 8,233 votes cast for the Lynwood City Special
Municipal Election.
That the total of the votes cast for and against said
measure was as listed in Exhibit "A" attached.
Section 3. The City Council does declare and determine
that as a result of said election a ma~ority of the qualified voters
voting on said measure relating to improved retirement benefits for
the Lynwood Firemen and Policemen voted in favor thereof, and that
said proposition was carried, and sha11 be deemed adopted and ratified.
Section 4, The City Clerk shall enter on the records of
the City Council of said City a statement of the result of said
election showing the whole number of votes cast in the city, the
measure voted upon and the number of votes for and against said measure.
Seetion 5o That the City Cl.erk shall certify to the passage
and adoption of this resolution and sha11 ma.ke a minute of the passage
and adoption thereof in the r.ecords o~ the proceedings of the City
Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the
same is passed and adoptede
