A RESOLUTION OF" THE CI'~Y C;OUNCI~ OF' THE CI'I°Y
OF LYNWOOD, CALIF`ORNIA, RECITIN~ THE FACT OF
THE SPECIAL MtiNICIPAL E~,ECT`dON ~iELD IN SAID
CITY OF LYNWOOD ON TH~ 5TH DAY OF NOVEMBER, 1974,
DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF' AND DIREC'~ING THE
CITY CLERK TO NO'~IF"Y THE PUBL.IC EMPLOYEES RETIRE -
MENT SYSTEM OF SUCH RESUY_.~TS
WHEREAS, a special munic~p~l EYection was held and conducted in the City
of Lynwood, County of Los Angeles, S~~~e of California, on Tuesday, the 5th day of
November, 1974, and
WHEREAS, the said special eTect~on was o~°dex°ed consolidated with the
Statewide general election tneld on ~ai~l dateD and w~tYnin said City the precincts,
polling places and officea°s of elect~on for ~fl~e special munieipal election were the
same as those provided for sabd St~tewi~le genex°~1 election~ and the Board of
Supervisors of Los Angeles Co^snty was ~requested to or°der the consolidation of
the special municipal election witRa said St~tewYde genex°al eleetion and to canvass the
returns of said special munie~pal election ~nd cea°tify the x°esults of the canvass
of returns, and
WHEREAS, the canvass of t~~e ~°ek~a~°mc of said eTection has been completed
and the Registrar-Recorder° o£ the Co~ri~y of Los Angeles has certified the results
of this City Council, said resaxlts ~re z°~~e~ved~ a~ttached and made a part here of
as "Exhibit A, "
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CI'PY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWSe
That at said special m~tnicipal eTect~.onD t~e following measure was submitted
to the electors of said City, to wit"
Shall the Ordinanee amending Ord~nanc~ Noo 426, ef€ective
January ls 1975, provfde ~T~at tkae Ci~y~s r.ontract with the Board oF
Administration of $he P~blic ~mpYoyees° ReL~ir~ement System be
amended to incl~d~ imprroved ~°et~remen~ benefits to the Lynwood
Firemen and Poli~emen, T~ea°ein ~~ferred ~s to local safety members
on the basis of disc~°etiona~y x°e~Ix°ement ~t age r0, witY~ the local
safety member ~°ece~ving a re~~rement of 'rwo (2%) pea°cent of their
final compensation ~°ox° e~~cY~ yea;~ ~f ~e~°vice (not to ea~~eed Seventy-
five (75%) percer~~ of final com~ens~~i~r~) with compulsory x°etirement
at age 60D to provide a widowBs a1low~nce of One-half (1/2) of the
local safe~y mem~er°s r~ti~°ement i~ene~~ts on his death and the
levy of only suefl~ taa~es as will be necessa~°y to maintain the City°s
share of said bene~~ts be ~dopted?
Section 2e T°F~~t t~ne wE~ole nurnl~~~° of votes cast in saic~ City (except absent
voter ballots) for the Lynwoocl Crty S~ec~~l 1VI~xr~YCipa1 El~ction was 8, 023e
That the whole r~~mbe~° of ~~ZS~n~ vo~er ballots cast was 2108 making a total
of 8, 233 votes cast for the L,ynwood City Spe~i~l IVfuni~ipal Election,
That the totaT of tF~ye votes ca~t for ~nd against said measure was as listed
in Exhibit "A" attached,
Section 3, That the City Council does declare and determine that as a result
of said election a majority of the qualified voters voting on said measure relating to
improved retirement benefits for the Lynwood Firemen and Policemen voted in favor
thereof, and that said proposition was carried, and shall be deemed adopted and
ratified.
Section 4, That the City Clerk hereby is authorized and directed to transmit
a certified copy of this results and "Exhibit "A" hereto to the Public Employees
Retirement System,
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of December, 1974,
