Attendees: Kim Hesse, Taru Kinnunen, Ken Johnson, Jane Roche, Linda Katz,
Dorothy Maruska, Cheryl Perreault, Bob Dobinsky, Ron Foisy, Phil Powers.
Agenda and August minutes approved unanimously.
Ken Johnson reported that progress is being made on the Skateboard Park. They
have received pledges of funding from the HAA and the Marathon Fund. Part of
the issue is that both of these are pledges to reimburse actual expenditures, and
they are trying to get suppliers to deliver with a promise to pay in the future.
Parks & Rec will match funds with Marathon Cttee .
We discussed that the Youth Commission club is without a faculty representative,
and there is no funding for that position this year. We discussed that the beFree
Coalition is meeting regularly after school, and is receiving significant youth
participation. The key shortcoming is that beFree is not a club, and not entitled to
inclusion in club activities. We will make the best of the situation.
The early release program is in need of new leadership. We will work with Kim
and Kim to transition to a new leadership team.
