HomeMy Public PortalAbout1994-078Member Ann Thies adoption: introduced the following resolution and moved its CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. 94-78 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 281 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 281 , an interim ordinance prohibiting the siting of adult uses in any zoning district in the city and authorizing a study of the secondary effects of adult uses on existing land uses; WHEREAS, the interim ordinance is lengthy; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances; and WHEREAS, the city council has reviewed the following summary and is of the opinion that it would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the interim ordinance while saving the city the expense of publication of the full ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina that the city clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 281 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 281 . The ordinance is an interim ordinance on the siting of adult uses in any zoning district within the city. The city council believes that adult uses have adverse secondary effects on surrounding land uses and that the city's zoning and other ordinances do not adequately regulate such uses. The council has authorized a study to be undertaken to review the evidence regarding the secondary effects of adult uses and to evaluate what changes should be made to Medina's ordinances. In order to protect the planning process and the health,safety and welfare of the citizens during the period of review, the interim ordinance prohibits the location of any adult use until after the city has had an opportunity to amend its ordinances . BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina that the city clerk -treasurer keep a copy of the ordinance in his office at city hall for public RHB79631 14E230-5 inspection and that he post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place within the city.
