HomeMy Public PortalAbout7/1/2019-6/30/2022 Teamsters Local 25 MOA (1)MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF WATERTOWN AND TEAMSTERS, LOCAL 25 (DPW UNION) WHEREAS, the Teamsters, Local 25 ("Union") is the exclusive collective bargaining representative for certain employees employed by the City of Watertown ("City") in its Department of Public Works; WHEREAS, the City and the Union are parties to a collective bargaining agreement that was effective for the period of July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022 ("CBA"); WHEREAS, the parties are currently engaged in negotiations fora successor CBA; WHEREAS, the City has proposed to make an interim modification to the existing vacation provision in the CBA to aid it in its ongoing recruiting efforts to fill vacant positions; WHEREAS, the Union has agreed to the City's proposal; NOW THEREFORE, the parties hereby agree as follows: 1. Effective January 1, 2024, Article 7, Section A of the CBA will be revised to read as follows: "Section A. Vacation Allowance Permanent or provisional full-time employees shall be entitled to vacation periods as follows: YEARS OF SERVICE VACATION Beginning with the first day of the 2°`' month through the last 3 Weeks day of the 8'h year Beginning with the first day of the 9'h year through the last day of the 20th year Beginning with the first day of the 215` ye Effective 1/1/17, Beginning with the first day of the 25th year 4 Weeks 5 Weeks 6 weeks Newly hired employees who successfully complete one (1) month of continuous service shall receive a prorated amount of their 3 weeks vacation entitlement during the first calendar year of their employment based on their month of hire. For example, an employee hired July 1St would receive 1 'A weeks of vacation leave for the remainder of the calendar year in which they are hired and only after completing one (1) month of continuous service. Thereafter, a newly hired employee will receive their annual vacation allotment on each January 1St in accordance with the above vacation schedule. In the case where a newly hired employee initially becomes eligible for vacation during the month of December, the period for utilizing said vacation will be extended two weeks into January of the following calendar year." 2. Existing employees who are currently receiving vacation leave at the 2 weeks level will be moved to the new 3 weeks level effective January 1, 2024 in accordance with the new schedule. Nothing herein shall preclude either party from pursuing or agreeing to additional changes to the current vacation schedule during their ongoing negotiations for a successor CBA. 4. This Agreement shall be governed for all purposes under the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
