AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE ROOSEVELT A VENUE,
~IINUESTREET,POSTBOULEVARD
INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
PRELIMINARY PROPERTY ACQUlSITIONIEASEMENT
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret ("Borough") authorized the preparation of bid
specifications and contract documents and advertisement for receipt of bids for preliminary
property acquisition/easement in regard to the Roosevelt Avenue, Mioue Street, Post Boulevard
Intersection Improvements Project; and
\VHEREAS, Key-Tech, submitted the lowest bid for said work as evidence by the response on
file with the Borough's Consulting Engineer and Purchasing Department; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Consulting Engineer has reviewed the above referenced bid proposal
and has recommended an award of a contract for said work to Key-Tech; and
WHEREAS, the Borough's Chief Financial Officer has certified that I\mds are or will be
available for the award of a contract for said work.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of
Carteret, County ofl'vliddlesex and State of New Jersey as follows:
1. That the Borough hereby awards the bid to Key-Tech, for preliminary property
acquisition/easement in regard to the Roosevelt Avenue, Minue Street, Post
Boulevard Intersection Improvements Project in the' amount not to exceed
$2,170.00.
2. That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized and directed to enter
into a contract with Key~ Tech, for preliminary property acquisition/easement in
regard to the Roosevelt Avenue, Minue Street, Post Boulevard Intersection
Improvements Project, in accordance in all respects with the request for proposals
and hid on the sarne.
3. That a copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Borough's Purchasing
Department and CME Associates for distribution to Key-Tech.
Adopted this 20'h day of May, 2010
and certified as a true copy of the
original on May 21, 2010.

Preliminary Property Acquisition/Easement

Dear John:
As you are aware, our office solicited quotations for pavement cores for the above
mentioned project. Our office received three quotations as follows:
Mays Landing, NJ
South Plainfield, NJ
$2,325.00
$3,500.00
It should be noted that ANS Consultants originally submitted a quotation of $1,950.00
but did not indicate any traffic control measures. After contacting ANS Consultants to
discuss the matter, they decided to increase their quote to $3,500.00 because they did
not account for it.
We have reviewed the quote submitted by Key-Tech and have also contacted the
contractor and he is comfortable with his quote as submitted.
