AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE
TOWN OF GULF .STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY,
FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 30 RELATING TO
TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES BY INCLUDING A NEW
SECTION 30-2 PROVIDING THAT THE MAXIMUM SPEED
ON CERTAIN RESIDENTIAL STREETS WITHIN THE TOWN
SHALL BE TWENTY MILES PER HOUR; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; PROVIDING FOR
CODIFICATION; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Florida Statute 316.189, it has been
determined by the Town Commission, after an investigation being
conducted, that a maximum speed limit of (twenty) 20 miles per hour
is a reasonable speed limit on streets within residential districts
within the Town; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 316.189, the Town Commission
desires to adopt a 20 mile per hour speed limit on certain
residential streets within the Town.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE
TOWN OF GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Chapter 30 of the Town Code of Ordinances,
relating to Traffic and Vehicles, is hereby amended to include a
new Section 30-2 to read as follows:
"Sec. 30-3. Maximum Speed Limit/Penalty.
The maximum speed on the following residential streets
within the Town shall be twenty (20) miles per hour:
Banyan Road
Bermuda Lane
County Road
Golfview Drive
Gulf Stream Road
Lakeview Drive
Middle Road
Old School Road
Oleander Way
Palm Way
Polo Drive
Sea Road
Wrightway
Violation of the speed limit established under this
ordinance shall be cited as a moving violation,
punishable as provided in Chapter 318, Florida Statutes."
Section 2. Severability.
If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof
is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the other
provisions or applications of this Ordinance which can be given

effect without the invalid provisions or applications, and to this
end the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby declared severable.
Section 3. Repeal of Ordinances in Conflict.
All other ordinances of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida, or
parts thereof which conflict with this or any part of this
Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. Codification.
This Ordinance shall be codified and made a part of the
official Code of Ordinances of the Town of Gulf Stream.
Section 5. Effective Date.
This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage
and approval, as provided by law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED in a regular, adjourned session on first
reading this 13th day of March , 1998, and for a second and
final reading
