A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISSION FOR THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, RE- QUESTING THAT STATE ROAD A -1-A BE DESIGNATED A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY. WHEREAS, State Road A -1-A has long been considered as one of the most scenic and beautiful highways in the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, State Road A -1-A, because of its location and design is not suitable for use as a primary traffic highway or artery; and WHEREAS, State Road A -1-A should be preserved in its present state for the enjoyment of future generations; and WHEREAS, State Road A -1-A is suitable only for slow moving traffic and is not readily adaptable as a through road; and WHEREAS, it is the considered opinion of this Commission that the residents of this community and other communities along the route of State Road A -1-A in Palm Beach County will be bet- ter served if State Road A -1-A is designated as a scenic high- way and remains a two-lane thoroughfare: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream, Palm Beach County, Florida, as follows: Section 1. That the Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida, does urge that State Road A -1-A be designated as a scenic highway in order to preserve its unique character for the enjoyment of future generations. Section 2. That State Road A -1-A remain a two-lane high- way. Section 3. That the Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida, does hereby respectfully request the Honorable Reubin Askew, Governor of the State of Florida, to take such steps as may be necessary to designate State Road A -1-A through the Town of Gulf Stream and surrounding communities as a scenic highway and take such further steps as will assure that the highway re- mains two lanes.
