RESOLUTION NO. 14-8776
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA TO INCLUDE THE
OPA-LOCKA WOMEN'S INITIATIVE (OWI) AS AN
OFFICIAL ENTITY OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the mission of the Opa-locka Women's Initiative (OWI) is to assist women
in making choices that remove obstacles and unlock their full potential to achieve personal goals;
build strong families; and enrich the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission is aware that an alliance with the OWI can provide
women in the community with the ability to recognize new opportunities and gain confidence,
providing social and personal development that can produce fundamentally deeper benefits and
be a catalyst for change; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to include the Opa-
locka Women's Initiative (OWI) as an integral part of the City of Opa-locka.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, hereby authorizes the
recognition of the Opa-locka Women's Initiative(OWI) organization as an official entity of the
City of Opa-locka, and supports its mission to empower the women of Opa-locka.

Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
