HomeMy Public PortalAboutRES 75/02RESOLUTION 75-2 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA RE- QUESTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CRITICALLY NEED- ED PROPOSED SOUTH TWELFTH STREET (LINTON BOULEVARD) BRIDGE OVER THE INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Delray Beach, florida, living East of the Intracoastal Waterway and all residents of the Town of Highland Beach must cross the Intracoastal Waterway for most of their shopping and other services, and WHEREAS, there are only two bridges over the Water- way between Boynton Beach, Florida, and Boca Raton, Florida, one being at Atlantic Avenue and one being one mile north thereof at Northeast Eighth Street, and WHEREAS, the present two bridges are not adequate for the present traffic using the same and will be less adequate as the population of this area increases, and WHEREAS, a mechanical failure in the Atlantic Avenue Bridge could seriously delay emergency vehicles in reaching the south beach area: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Palm Beach Board of County Commissioners be advised to move forward with letting the contract and constructing the bridge with the $5,000,000 funds already allocated to facilitate movement of traffic and enhance the public safety of the residents in this general area.
