Board of Assessors
Minutes of Meeting of February 10, 2009
A regular meeting of the Board of Assessors was held February 10, 2009 in the first floor
conference room at Town Hall. A Notice of Meeting was duly posted.
The meeting commenced at 5:30 p.m. In attendance were John Palmer and John Duffy, a
majority of the members of the Board. Also in attendance was Robert Bushway, Principal
Assessor. John Palmer presided and John Duffy kept the minutes.
The Board approved the minutes of the meeting of January 20, 2009.
The Board reviewed, approved, and signed a bills payable warrant for $3573.89.
The Board reviewed, approved, and signed the Report of Exemptions and Abatements for
January, 2009 as follows:
Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Abatements: $20,848.77
Statutory Real Estate Tax Exemptions: 3,200.00
Real Estate Tax Abatements: 201.40
CPA Surtax Exemptions: 330.78
TOTAL: $24,580.95
The Board reviewed, approved, and signed a water-sewer tax lien interest abatement for 6 Holt
Street for $47.06.
The Board and Mr. Bushway had a general discussion concerning the Fiscal Year 2010 budget
process.
The Board reviewed and discussed with Mr. Bushway the Fiscal Year 2009 tax abatement
applications which have been received.
The Board reviewed and discussed two Statutory Tax Exemption applications. The Board
approved and signed one 22E application, and deferred action on a 41C application, pending
clarification of the income of the applicant.
The Board and Mr. Bushway reviewed the status of the Overlay accounts for Fiscal Year 2000
through Fiscal Year 2009.
The Board voted unanimously to declare Overlay Surplus as follows:
From FY2004: $46,000
From FY2006: 22,000
From FY2007: 12,000
From FY2008: 22,000
TOTAL: $102,000
The next meeting is scheduled for February 24, 2009.
The meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
