HomeMy Public PortalAbout14-8811 Donate to our Adopted Sister City Isla Pucu Sponsored by: Commissioner Santiago RESOLUTION NO. 14-8811 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA TO DONATE TO OUR ADOPTED "SISTER CITY" ISLA PUCU, PARAGUAY, THE CITY'S OLD SURPLUS STREET SWEEPER; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka adopted Isla Pucu, Paraguay, (Isla Pucu) as our Sister City; and WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka has a surplus street sweeper, that is no longer used, which is presently located at the Public Works Department; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to donate the surplus street sweeper to our sister City Isla Pucu, at no additional expense to the City of Opa-locka other than the value of the Street Sweeper itself, in "as is" condition; and WHEREAS, the municipality of Isla Pucu has informed the City Commission that all the expenses for the transfer and transport of the surplus street sweeper to their City, including shipping and insurance, will be borne by their municipality, Isla Pucu. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, Florida authorizes the donation of the surplus street sweeper to our adopted Sister City, Isla Pucu, Paraguay, at no additional expense to the city of Opa-locka other than the value of the Street Sweeper itself, and Resolution No. 14-8811 all transfer and transport expenses of the surplus street sweeper, including shipping and insurance, will be borne by Isla Pucu municipality. Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
