HomeMy Public PortalAboutMinutes - 4/6/1970188 The Wellsburg Town Council met in regular session on March 2, 1970, with Mayor Ross presiding and councilmen Hippen, Huisman, Eckhoff & Van Deest present. On a motion by Eckhoff and seconded by Van Deest the minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read. Motion carried. On a motion by Eckhoff and seconeded by Van Deest the following bills were allowed for payment: Aeilt Terfehn, salary $475.00 Herman DeVries, salary 475.00 Henry J. Grobe, salary 100.00 B & H Skelly, gas oil & supplies 58.01 Gelder Auto Salvage, repair pickup 32.15 Fischer Ins. Agency, insurance 244.00 Wellsburg Farm Supply, supplies 4.66 The Wellsburg Herald, printing 23.20 Heiman Fire Equipment, coats & boots 208.75 United Telephone Co., toll calls 2.95 Iowa Electric Light & Power Co., heat, lights and power 654.97 On a motion by Huisman and seconded by Van Deest the beer and liquor licenses of Wallace Deters, dba The Wellsburg Tap, were approved. Motion carried. Following a motion by Huisman and seconded by Eckhoff the meeting was adjourned. Mayor Clerk The Wellsburg Town Council met in regular session on April 6, 1970, with Mayor Ross presiding and all councilmen present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved by a motion from Eckhoff and seconded by Van Deest. Motion carried. The following bills were allowed for payment on a motion by Huisman and seconded by Claassen. Aeilt Terfehn, salary $359.66 Herman DeVries, salary 359.66 Henry J. Grobe, salary 72.00 Henry J. Penning, hauling snow 75.00 Ackley Quarries, rock 21.04 Sailer Ford, tractor parts 87.54 Auditor of Grundy County, all night radio service for 1969 233.88 The Wellsburg Herald, printing 25.07 Deters Auto Service, lawn mower repair 120.30 Roger L. Brown Sales Agency, stop lights 291.60 Iowa Electric Light & Power Co., heat, lights, and power 667.27 Treasurer State of Iowa, Iowa withholding taxes 44.34 Peoples Savings Bank, Federal withholding taxes 337.10 I.P.E.R.S., taxes 210.00 Dept. of,HEW, social security taxes 306.43 Treasurer, State of Iowa, sales tax 79.27 On a motion by Eckhoff, seconded by Van Deest, the clerk was instructed to advance the Wellsburg Library Board $1000 for current operating expenses. Motion carried. A check for $815.46 from the State Comptroller was, on a motion by Claassen and seconded by Huisman, earmarked for the Debt' Service account. Motion carried. On a motion by Huisman, seconded by Claassen, the meeting was adjourned. Motion carried. y Mayor Clerk The Wellsburg Town Council met in special session on April 24, 1970 with Mayor Ross and all councilmen in attendance. A discussion was aired regarding the natural water drainage on the Gene Blythe property south of McAdoo Street in the town of Wellsburg. There was general consensus that the natural water— way could not be blocked. Blythe was to be notified of the council's decisionl Mayor Clerk
