CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO. 96-6
RESOLUTION GRANTING CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT TO
SUBURBAN HENNEPIN REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT FOR A
MAINTENANCE SHOP AND STORAGE FACILITY
WHEREAS, Suburban Hennepin Regional Park District (the "Applicant") has requested
permission to construct a new building containing approximately 4,0000 square feet, remodel an
existing dairy bam for cold storage, replace a soil storage shed and upgrade a quonset building
for machinery, all of which will be used for maintenance and storage for the Baker National Golf
Course in Baker Park Reserve; and
WHEREAS, the proposed uses require a conditional use permit under the city's zoning
ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the planning commission reviewed the matter on January 9, 1996 and the city
council did the same on February 6, 1996 and determined that the proposed uses will not impede
the normal and orderly development of adjacent properties for purposes for which they are zoned.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina,
Minnesota that a conditional use permit be granted to the Applicant for the stated purposes,
subject to the following terms and conditions:
1. The Applicant must remove the house and two corrugated metal buildings in
accordance with the time table approved by the city;
2. The chemical storage building must meet the requirements of the fire marshall;
3. The access drive must be constructed to a nine -ton capacity with 12 feet of
pavement and four -foot shoulders;

4. The Applicant must also receive approval of the project from the Pioneer Creek
Watershed District;
5. City staff must review and approve the NURP pond calculations, the construction
silt fences and the chemical spill arrangements of the proposed improvements;
6. Exterior trash containers must be screened with material similar to that which is
used on the exterior of the buildings;
7. Parking areas, landscaping, exterior building materials and screening must be
constructed as shown on the plans submitted to and approved by the city;
8. There shall be no outside telephone bells or loudspeakers on the buildings;
9. All existing and new exterior lighting shall be designed and installed so that the
globe is recessed and enclosed on all sides except the bottom and no light is cast
directly on any other property;
10. The hours of operation for the new facility shall be the same as those for the golf
course, i.e., Memorial Day through Labor Day - 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and 7:00
a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the remainder of the year;
11. There shall be no more than seven full-time employees and the number of
seasonal employees may not exceed 20;
12. The Applicant must comply with the requirements found in the January 4, 1996
letter from city engineer Shawn Gustafson, except that no surety will be required
for the site improvements and the service drive need be constructed only to the
width of 12 feet with 4 foot shoulders; and
13. The Applicant shall pay to the city a fee in the amount determined by the city to
represent its actual cost in reviewing this conditional use permit application.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Phil Zietlow and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof
John Ferris, Jim Johnson, Thies, Zietlow, and Mayor Anne Theis.
and the following voted against same: None.
Whereupon said resolution was declined duly passed and adopted.
