RESOLUTION NO. 14-8852
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,IN SUPPORT OF THE RENAMING
OF OPA-LOCKA EXECUTIVE AIRPORT AS THE MIAMI-
OPA LOCKA EXECUTIVE AIRPORT; DIRECTING THE
MAYOR OR DESIGNEE TO TAKE ALL STEPS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE SUCH NAME CHANGE,
INCLUDING A HYPHEN BETWEEN MIAMI AND OPA-
LOCKA WITH NO HYPHEN, BETWEEN OPA AND
LOCKA.;PROVIDING FOR TRANSMITTAL;PROVIDING
FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka has considered changing
the name of the Opa-locka Executive Airport,in order to promote the airport more effectively,to
Miami-Opa locka Executive Airport; and
WHEREAS,the City would only change the name of the Opa-locka Executive Airport,if
they can place a hyphen between Miami and Opa-locka and to remove the hyphen between Opa and
locks; and
WHEREAS,the City Commission of the City of Opa-locka desires to support changing the
name of the Opa-locka Executive Airport to Miami-Opa locka Executive Airport.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA,FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble are hereby incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa-locka, Florida, hereby approves the
name change of the Opa-locks Executive Airport to Miami-Opa locks Executive Airport,including
a hyphen between Miami and Opa-locka with no hyphen between Opa and locka.
Sect_ I�4• The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Miami-Dade County Board of County
Commissioners.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
