RESOLUTION NO. 14 -8860
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA, TO SUPPORT THE OPA -LOCKA
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORP'S APPLICATION TO THE
FLORIDA HISTORICAL COMMISSION, FLORIDA DIVISION OF
HISTORICAL RESOURCES, BUREAU OF HISTORIC
PRESERVATION FOR A SPECIAL CATEGORY GRANT TO
RESTORE THE HISTORIC MOORISH STRUCTURE OF THE
HURT BUILDING, LOCATED AT 490 (432) OPA -LOCKA
BOULEVARD, OPA- LOCKA; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION
OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Opa -locka is one of Florida's outstanding examples of
Moorish architecture and has unique Arabian Nights buildings that are the centerpiece of
an ambitious revitalization in the City; and
WHEREAS, Opa -locka Community Development Corp (OLCDC) has applied
for a Special Category Historic Preservation Grant for the restoration of the historic Hurt
Building in Opa- locka; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of Opa -locka desires to support the Opa -locka
Community Development Corp (OLCDC) application to the Florida Historical
Commission, Florida Division of Historical Resources, Bureau of Historic Preservation
for a Special Category Grant for restoration of the historic Hurt building, located at 490
(432) Opa -locka Boulevard, Opa- locka.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Resolution No. 14 -8860
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa -locka hereby supports the
Opa -locka Community Development Corp's application to the Florida Historical
Commission, Florida Division of Historical Resources, Bureau of Historic Preservation
for a Special Category Grant to restore the historic Moorish structure of the Hurt
Building, located at 490 (432) Opa -locka Boulevard, Opa- locka. Nothing herein shall be
construed as the City agreeing to subordinate any mortgage on the property, or
consenting to a transfer of title of the property, and any letter of support shall so note.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
