HomeMy Public PortalAbout1996-041Member Mayor Theis introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. 96 - 41 RESOLUTION CERTIFYING THE PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX LEVY FOR 1996 AND ESTABLISHING THE DATE, TIME, AND PLACE FOR THE TRUTH AND TAXATION HEARING WHEREAS, city staff has prepared a preliminary budget for the operations of the City of Medina for the calendar year 1997; and WHEREAS, the Medina City Council has determined that a property tax levy in the amount of $ 971,047 (levy amount minus Homestead and Agricultural Credit Aid) is necessary to meet the needs outlined in the preliminary budget; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THE City Council adopt a preliminary tax levy of $971,047 for taxes payable in 1997 and that this amount be certified to the Hennepin County Auditor as required by Minnesota Statues. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a Truth in Taxation hearing be held Wednesday, December 4, 1995 at 7:00 p.m. in the Medina City Hall and a reconvened hearing Wednesday, December 11, 1995 if necessary. Theis, Mayor The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member Phil Zietlow and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Ferris, Johnson, Mayor Theis, Thies and Zietlow and the following voted against same: None. Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
