HomeMy Public PortalAbout1996-055Member Thies introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. 96-55 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 291 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 291, an amendment to sections 800.01 et seq. of the Code of Ordinances relating to private swimming pools; and WHEREAS, the amendment to the pool ordinance is lengthy; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the amended pool ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the City of Medina that the city clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 291 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 291. The ordinance amends the city's ordinance regulating private swimming pools. The ordinance increases the minimum height of the fence which must be constructed around a pool from 4 to 5 feet. The ordinance also adds a requirement that pool fences include self -closing gates and self -latching latches. The full text of Ordinance No. 291 is available at Medina city hall during regular business hours.
