HomeMy Public PortalAbout1996-056Member Thies introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. 96-56 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 292 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 292, an interim ordinance establishing a moratorium on the construction of new privately owned towers for public commercial wireless telecommunication services; and WHEREAS, the interim ordinance is lengthy; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the interim ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the City of Medina that the city clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 292 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 292. The ordinance establishes a moratorium on the construction, reconstruction, erection, placement, enlargement or expansion of privately owned towers to be used in connection with providing commercial wireless telecommunication services. The moratorium will be in effect for 90 days and will allow the City an opportunity to review its ordinances and make other amendments if necessary before processing additional applications. The moratorium does not affect antennas placed on City -owned sites. The full text of Ordinance No. 292 is available at Medina city hall during rar business hours.
