A. TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES FOR ARDEN DRIVE BETWEEN DAINES
DRIVE AND LOWER AZUSA.
Traffic Engineer Mellissa Demirci from Transtech delivered the presentation
regarding traffic conditions along Arden Drive between Daines Drive and
Lower Azusa Road. She stated that a recent traffic study conducted by the
City had concluded that many vehicles are going above the posted speed
limit of 30 miles per hour. Three traffic collisions were also reported,
however they were not speed-related. She recommended that traffic
enforcement be increased on this portion of Arden and solid white stripes be
painted on each side of the roadway (8 feet from the curb) to give the illusion
of a narrower road and cause drivers to slow down. She also stated that
larger speed limit signs, "ahead" legends, and regulatory warning signage
should be added to the roadway.
Commissioner Redmond made a motion that the Transportation and Public
Safety Commission recommend to City Council that the traffic calming
measures for Arden Drive be approved. The motion was seconded by
Chairman Clift and unanimously carried.
