HomeMy Public PortalAbout14-8893 To resolve all issues in the Utility Billing DepartmentSponsored by: Commissioner Santiago RESOLUTION NO. 14 -8893 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO REVIEW AND SUBMIT A WRITTEN PLAN TO RESOLVE ALL ISSUES IN THE UTILITY BILLING DEPARTMENT REGARDING BILLING FLUCTUATIONS, PROPER METER READING AND OTHER MATTERS AFFECTING THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, one of the most important services the City of Opa -locka provides to its residents is the provision of water and sewer services; and WHEREAS, there has been persistent and serious problems with accurate bills that are sent by the Utility Department; and WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa -locka desires to have a complete review of the Utility Department to resolve the issues adversely affecting the residents. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa- locka, hereby directs the City Manager to provide a written review and plan to correct the billing and meter reading issues affecting our residents regarding the provision of water and sewer services. Resolution No. 14 -8893 Section 3. The written plan shall be submitted within thirty (30) days at the effective date of this resolution. Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of December, 2014.
