MEDINA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF MAY 3, 2022
The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on May 3, 2022 at 8:00
a.m. at the locations noted below in Medina, MN.
I. Call to Order
Members present: Martin, Cavanaugh (A quorum was not present)
Members absent: Albers, DesLauriers, Reid
Also present: City Administrator Scott Johnson, City Clerk/Assistant to City
Administrator Caitlyn Walker, Public Works Director Steve Scherer, Planning Director
Dusty Finke, Chief Jason Nelson, and Finance Director Erin Barnhart.
II. 2022 Spring Business Tours
Go 2 Print Media Group – 62 Hamel Road – City Council and staff met with Tom
Therrien and other employees at the site. They provided a tour and information on the
business to the City Council. Mr. Therrien discussed warehouse space needs, available
lease space (purchased old JT Miller property), and the possibility of a tax break for a
non-profit leasing space. Staff will check with the City Assessor to see if there are any
tax break options for non-profits leasing space.
Farmers State Bank of Hamel – 145 Hamel Road – City Council and staff met with
Rowdy Dorweiler and Shorty Dorweiler. They provided history and information on the
bank. Shorty Dorweiler provided insight on the Hamel Area and encouraged the City to
find unique businesses to draw people to the area and park.
III. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 a.m.
