A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
A CONSULTANT SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AND LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY GROUP, INC. IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$36,000; AND FINDING THAT ACQUISITION OF SERVICES IS MORE
ECONOMICALLY AND EFFICIENTLY EFFECTED THROUGH THE USE .OF AN CODE
PROCEDURE AUTHORIZED BY THE LYNWOOD MUNICIPAL ODE
WHEREAS, on August 18, 2009 the City Council approved an Agreement with
Legislative Advocacy Group (LAG) to provide advocacy services, and
WHEREAS, Legislative Advocacy Group has been providing advocacy services
to the City since 2005, and
WHEREAS, the City desires to retain a consultant to provide professional
lobbying services at the Federal, State, regional, and local levels, and
WHEREAS, the City identifies annually a Legislative Priorities List and specific
projects or measures that would improve the City's infrastructure, enhance public
safety, retain local funds, increase local jobs, and promote development.
NOW, THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the Mayor to execute a Consulting
Services Agreement with Legislative Advocacy Group, Inc. for the firm to provide
Federal, State, regional and local advocacy services in a not to exceed amount of
$36,000 for a one year agreement in a form approved by the City Attorney
Section 2. That the City Council finds as evidenced by a 415 vote or better,
that the retention of Legislative Advocacy Group, Inc. may be more economically and
efficiently affected through the use of an alternate procedure, such that the City hereby
approves the exercise of the purchasing exemption authorized under Lynwood
Municipal Code Section 6- 3.12(a)(3)
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 17 day of August 2010.
