HomeMy Public PortalAbout1997-010Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO. 97-10 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 294 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 294 , an ordinance amending sections 826.49, 826.55, 826.61 and 826.65 and adding a new section 828.15 et seq. of the city's code of ordinances relating to the regulation of telecommunications towers and facilities; and WHEREAS, the ordinance is nine pages in length; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina that the city clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 294 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 294 . The ordinance regulates telecommunications towers and facilities within the city by establishing them as conditional uses within the city's urban and rural commercial and industrial zones. The ordinance regulates the location, height and setback of these facilities. The ordinance requires attempts to make new towers as inconspicuous as possible and tries to reduce the number of new towers by strongly encouraging colocation of two or more users on a single facility. A full copy of the ordinance is on file at city hall in the office of the clerk -treasurer and may re reviewed during regular business hours.
