HomeMy Public PortalAbout1997-018Member Thies introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.97-18 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 297 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 297, an ordinance amending section 828.43 of the city's code of ordinances relating to the regulation of wetlands; and WHEREAS, the ordinance is 6 pages in length; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina that the city clerk -treasurer shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 297 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The City Council of the City of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 297. The ordinance amends the city's wetlands regulations by adopting state law by reference. The new ordinance establishes the city as the local government unit responsible for wetland regulation in Medina. A wetlands technical evaluation panel is established to review wetlands matters. The panel will be comprised of the city engineer, a person appointed by the Minnesota board of water and soil resources and someone from the Hennepin county conservation district. By incorporating state law, the ordinance allows the city to have a say in wetland loss, mitigation and replacement matters arising in Medina. A full copy of the ordinance is on file at city hall in the office of the clerk -treasurer and may be reviewed during regular business hours.
