RESOLUTION NO. 15 -8922
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO IMPLEMENT A SUMMER JOBS
PROGRAM AND TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT FOR
FUNDS TO BE EXPENDED FOR THE PROGRAM;
ENCOURAGING THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY TO
PROVIDE SUMMER JOB OPPORTUNITIES;
REQUESTING THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY
COMMISSION TO HELP RECRUIT SPONSORS AND
BUSINESS OWNERS TO SUPPORT THE SUMMER
JOBS PROGRAM; PROVIDING FOR
INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, it has long been a practice of the City of Opa- locka, Florida to
establish a summer job program for the youth of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City is requesting assistance from the business community to
support the program by providing summer job openings for City youth; and
WHEREAS, in keeping with the precedents established by Resolution no.'s 07-
7079 and 14 -8801, the City again wishes to continue to support and encourage the
community to create employment opportunities for the youth of our City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to create a line item for funds
to be expended for the summer jobs program for the youth of the City.

Section 3. The business community is requested to help create employment
opportunities for the youth of our City.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

Resolution No. 07 -7079
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA ENDORSING THE 2007 OPA -LOCKA
YOUTH EMPLOYMENT INITIATIVE (O.Y.E.L)
WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor has begun a campaign to assist youth in our
community, ages 14 — 17, with the opportunity for summer employment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Opa -Locka will seek financial assistance from the business
community to assist in employing 100 youth for the 2007 summer months beginning June 1, 2007 to
August 3, 2007; and
WHEREAS, it is the belief of the City Commission that O.Y.E.I. will instill a sense of self-
worth and efficacy in its participants.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission hereby endorses the 2007 Opa -Locka Youth
Employment Initiative (O.Y.E.I.).

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER, WITH ADVICE FROM THE CITY ATTORNEY,
TO IMPLEMENT A SUMMER JOB HIRING PROGRAM;
PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa -locka is interested in creating
summer job opportunities for the residents of the City of Opa- locka; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa -locka desires the City Manager, with
advice from the City Attorney, to investigate and find a means of implementing a Summer Job
Hiring Program; and
WHEREAS, the desired summer jobs are to be performed, where possible, by qualified
City residents, selected in an equitable fashion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble hereby incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa -locks hereby directs and authorizes the
City Manager, with advice from the City Attorney, to investigate and find a solution to implement a
Summer Job Hiring Program, for qualified City residents, selected in an equitable fashion.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
