RESOLUTION NO. 15-8930
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSED
LEGISLATION FILED BY REPRESENTATIVE MIA JONES
AND SENATOR ARTHENIA JOYNER, WHICH ALLOWS
YOUNG DEFENDANTS TO HAVE THEIR RECORDS
EXPUNGED; DIRECTING THE CITY'S LOBBYIST TO
WORK IN SUPPORT OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING
FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Representative Mia Jones and Senator Arthenia Joyner have filed proposed
legislation allowing youthful offenders to have their records expunged; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Opa- locka, supports the Bill filed by
Representative Mia Jones and Senator Arthenia Joyner, to allow youthful offenders to expunge
their records.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa- locka, Florida, declares its support of
the Bill to allow youthful offenders to expunge their records.
Section 3. The City's Tallahassee lobbyist is directed to work in support of the proposed
legislation.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
