HomeMy Public PortalAbout1997-035ti Member Thies introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.97-35 RESOLUTION REGARDING PETITION FOR MOHAWK DRIVE IMPROVEMENT; ORDERING FEASIBILITY REPORT; CALLING FOR PUBLIC HEARING WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina (the "City") has received a petition from owners of property abutting Mohawk Drive requesting that the City improve said street; and WHEREAS, the proposed improvement would result in the City levying special assessments against benefitted properties for a portion of the cost thereof, and WHEREAS, the City has reviewed the petition and has calculated the percentage of frontage on Mohawk represented by the signers of the petition. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the city council of the city of Medina, as follows: 1. The City finds that the petition requesting the improvement of Mohawk Drive has been signed by the owners of property having 36 percent of the frontage on the proposed improvement. This declaration is made in conformity with Minnesota Statutes, section 429.035. 2. The petition is hereby referred to Bonestroo Rosene Anderlik & Associates and they are instructed to report with all convenient speed advising the city council in a preliminary way as to whether the proposed improvement is feasible and as to whether it should best be made as proposed or in connection with some other improvement, and the estimated cost of the improvement. 3. A public hearing shall be held on the proposed improvement on September 16, 1997, at 7:45 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall and the clerk -treasurer shall give mailed and published notice of such hearing and improvement as required by law. The clerk -treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to cause this resolution to be published in the City's official newspaper as required by Minnesota Statutes, section 429.036.
