• AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 9
OF THE GREENCASTLE CITY CODE ESTABLISHING
AN INFLOW AND INFILTRATION POLICY
WHEREAS, there is a significant amount of clear water inflowing and infiltrating into the
Greencastle Sanitary Sewer System; and
WHEREAS, such water creates an undue burden upon the sanitary sewer system by treating
unnecessary inflow and infiltration; and
WHEREAS, the reduction of inflow and infiltration is a necessary component of complying
With current EPA and IDEM regulations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Greencastle has made signi ficant progress in reducing such inflow
and infiltration into its system; however, there is a need for reduction of such water originating from
individual households and properties.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle that
the Common Council of the City of Greencastle hereby adopts the attached revisions to Chapter 9 of
the Greencastle City Code regarding utilities, establishing an inflow and infiltration reduction policy
is as set out in Attachment A, which is incorporated herein and made a part hereof.
That all other terms and conditions contained in Chapter 9 which are not specifically added
to, revised or deleted herein, shall remain in full force and effect.
This Ordinance shall have full force and effect upon passage of the Greencastle Common
Council and its approval by the Mayor.
