HomeMy Public PortalAbout15-8935 Urging MDC to Provide Adequate Maintenance for the MediansSponsored by: Commissioner Santiago RESOLUTION NO. 15 -8935 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA, URGING MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE MAINTENANCE FOR THE MEDIANS ON ALL COUNTY ROADS IN THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, Miami Dade County owns and maintains certain roads located in the City of Opa- locka; and WHEREAS, the maintenance service provided by the County on the medians of the County roads has been inconsistent. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT DULY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF OPA- LOCKA, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference. Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Opa- locka, urges Miami -Dade County to provide adequate maintenance services for the medians on the roads owned by the County in the City of Opa- locka, and if the County is unable or unwilling to do so, to transfer maintenance responsibility, together with the necessary funding, to the City of Opa- locka, so that the City can assure adequate maintenance of these medians. Section 3. A copy of this resolution shall be sent to the County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and to the two County Commissioners who represent portions of the City of Opa- locka, Commissioner Barbara Jordan and Commissioner Jean Monestime.
