HomeMy Public PortalAbout1997-046Member Thies introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.97-46 RESOLUTION CALLING FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON THE ASSESSMENT OF THE MOHAWK DRIVE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, pursuant to council direction, the city engineer prepared a report regarding the feasibility of improving Mohawk Drive to city standards between T.H. 55 and the northern limits of the city and the engineer's report was accepted by the council on September 16, 1997; and WHEREAS, following published and mailed notice as required by law, a public hearing was held in the council chambers at city hall on September 16, 1997, after which hearing the city council ordered the city engineer to prepare plans and specifications for the making of said improvement; and WHEREAS, the city council now wishes to establish a time and place for the public hearing on the special assessments to be levied regarding the improvements. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina, Minnesota, as follows: 1. The portion of the cost of said improvement to be paid by the city is hereby declared to be $158,600 and the portion of the cost to be assessed against benefited properties is declared to be $124,110. 2. The clerk -treasurer, with the assistance of the city engineer, is authorized and directed to calculate the amount to be assessed against every assessable parcel of land and to file a copy of said proposed assessment in his office for public inspection. 3. A public hearing will be held on February 17, 1998 at 8:00 p.m. in the council chambers at city hall to consider the proposed assessment. All persons owning property affected by the proposed assessment shall be given an opportunity to be heard at that time. 4. The clerk -treasurer, city engineer and other staff members are authorized and directed to take any and all actions necessary to bring this matter to the attention of the city council at the time of said hearing and all other actions necessary or convenient to accomplish the purposes and intent of this resolution.
