2 A RESOL�ITION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
3 CITY OF LYNWOOD URGING PURCHASE OF
4 AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS.

s WHEREAS, sales of foreign automobiles in the western
7 states now total 60% o£ total automobile sales; and
$ WHEREAS, the unemployment rate in California is now
g �.1%; and
10 WHEREAS, American Automobile Manu£acturers are
il contributing to this critical condition by financing £oreign
12 automobile manu£acturers and importing foreign automobiles and
13 Parts; and
14 WHEREAS, Countless thousands of American Workers have
15 lost their jobs due to foreign imports; and
16 WHEREAS, the economy of our area and our country have
17 suf£ered due, in a great part, to imported foreign products, and
1$ NOW, THEREFORF., BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
lg of the City of Lynwood urge the President of the United StateU,
20 our United States Senators, and our Congressmen to ;l) impose the
21 same safety and smog requirements on foreign automobiles that are
22 imposed on American automobiles, and (2) to impose a fair tariff o
23 all foreign imported products, and (3) urge all American Manufactu er;
l� to invest their capital in America and discontinue their practice
25 of importing foreign products.
26 APPROVED and ADOPTED this lst day of June, 1971.
