Workshop Objectives:
• Introduce the Brewster Coastal Advisory Group, their charge, and goal to create the
Brewster Coastal Adaptation Strategy
• Engage the public in discussion about Brewster’s changing coastline and development of
the coastal adaptation strategy to prepare for those changes
• Share your concerns, hopes, and priorities for the future of Brewster’s coastal areas
6:00 Welcome and Overview of the Brewster Coastal Adaptation Strategy Process
6:15 How Brewster Uses its Public Beaches and Landings
• Keypad/remote E-polling of the group
• Present initial findings of Beach Access Survey
6:45 Brewster’s Coastline 101
• What do we know about the shoreline today?
• How might Brewster’s public beaches and landings change in the next 20, 40,
and 60 years? Potential impacts of sea level rise, storm surge, and sediment
changes on Brewster’s public beaches and landings
7:15 Getting Your Input: Table group discussion
• What do you value most about Brewster’s coastline and beaches? Imagine you
are explaining to a friend why you love Brewster’s beaches – what would you
tell them?
• What are you most concerned about or worried about happening in the town’s
beach areas or landings?
• What do you want the Coastal Adaptation Strategy to preserve, protect, and
enhance?
