RESOLUTION N0. 71-67
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUAiCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF
AN APPLICATION FOR FUNDING UNDER THE EMERGENCY
EMPLOYMENT ACT OF 1971.
WHEREAS, the United State Government has adopted the
Emergency F,mployment Act of 1971; and
WHEREAS, this Act is designed to provide transitional
employment during times of high unemployment for low income persons
who are unable to retain employment and for persons who have become
unemployed as a result of technological changes; and
WHEREAS, during times of high unemployment, it is appropriate
to fill unmet needs for public services in such fields as public
safety, environmental quality, maintenance of streets, parks and
other public facilities, crime prevention and other fields of public
improvement; and
WHEREAS, this program will assist in meeting the unmet
public needs of the City of Lynwood;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council hereby agrees to participate in
the Emergency Employment Program of 1971 and accepts the responsibility
of Sub-Program Agent of the County of Los Angeles.
Section 2. The City Manager is instructed to submit the
application to the County of Los Angeles and the United States
Department of Labor under Section 6(a) of the Emergency Employment

Act of 1971 (PL 92-54) and is further instructed to take appropriate
steps to obtain funds, and the Mayor is authorized to sign the
grant Agreement to implement the phase ofthis program.
Section 3• The City Manager is instructed to prepare a
Full Funding Application and to implement the Emergency Employment
Program in Lynwood.
APPROVED and ADOPTED this 8th day of October, 1971.
