A RESOLtTTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF T"TE CITY OF
I�Y_'Ii°JOOD, CALIFORNIA, t1RGIPTG IP4i'fEDIATE COP'fidENCEMENT
OF CONSTRUGTIOTd OF I-105 (CENTURY) FREEWAY.
?dHEREAS, the California Division of Highways made numerous
studies of alternative routes over which the Century Freeway, or Inter-
state Route 10$ could be built, and
WEiEREAS, the California Highway Commission held hearings on
and mad.e e final decision upon the final routing for saic freeway, end
WHEREAS, the City of Los Angeles, the County of Los Angeles
the City of Lynwood, and all but two cities along the finally selected.
route of said freeway have signed bindin� freeway s�reements, and.
1JHEREAS, the unemployment rate in Southern California is
in excess of 10�, and
WHEREAS, there is a drastic need for additional high speed
transportation between the eastern portion of Los An�eles County and
Los Angeles Internetional Airport, the beach cities and the 1�rest Los
Angeles County industrial area and.Tiarina, and
WHEREAS, some $350 raillion of fed.eral aid is available with
which to immediately begin construction of said Interstate Route 105
or the Century Freeway, and
WFIE.L?EAS, said construction would immed.iately alleviate
unemployment in numerous trades and. occupations, and provid.e additional
transportation linkages;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNtid00D
DOES HEREBY RESOLVE that an urgent request be mad.e to the California
Division of Highways to proceed immediately, without f urther d.elay,
with the construction of said Interstate Route 105, and.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Federal Highway Admin-
istration of the United States Deoartment of Transportation be
provided. copies of this resolution signifying the feelings of one

fiarther delays and immediate construction of said Interstate
Route 105.
